Old Rogues took 30 golfers to Mountain Shadow for the 2nd round of the best 3 out of 4 for our Club Championship. Although Tony Browne and Rob Davis held a healthy lead after round 1, there was still a lot of golf to be played. All put 4 of the players were playing in the Championship.
The course was in excellent condition with a good breeze making life a bit more testing. There are a lot of difficult holes but none more than the 533-yard, dog leg over water, par 5, 14th hole. Shot of the day has to go to Robby Anderson who hit a 5 iron for his second shot onto the green.
Keith Griffith was the man of the moment with a winning score of 39 points. Keith was trailing the 1st round leader, Tony Browne, by 15 points after round 1 but drew level with Tony after vastly differing 2nd rounds. It was a very close affair at Mountain Shadow with only 5 points separating the first 8 places. John Coetzee just pipped Nigel Henson for 2nd place on a count back after both came in with 38 points. Phil Thompson jumped into contention with 37 points for 4th place with the remaining places going to Michel DeLeTraz, George Mueller and Terry Drier.
With all the scores in, it is Rob Davis who takes the halfway lead with 74. Hot on his heels are John Coetzee, (71), and Michel DeLeTraz (70).

If players want to play our normal stableford on these days and not take part in the Championship that is not a problem. There will be the normal presentation after each event at The Snug.
Because of a prior commitment which sees The Snug booked for a birthday party on the 9th, the presentation for the Club Champion will be held at Greenwood at the conclusion of the final round.
ALL 4 ROUNDS WILL BE OFF WHITE TEES
