Royal Lakeside is truly a golfing gem and although it is one of the furthest away courses from home, it is always very well supported and today was no different when we took 5 groups to play.
The course was in immaculate condition with fast greens and fairways resembling a bowling green. Even off the white tees it was playing long and although some scores were better than others, everyone commentated about its great condition.
It was a nip and tuck competition with Nigel Henson leading the way on a count back from Craig Hitchins on 37 points with one group to come. George Mueller looked like heading the field with 37 points after 17 holes but unfortunately for George, he wiped the last hole. This opened the door for one of his playing partners, George Wilson, to step in with a chance of taking the glory and this he duly did with a 2-point bogey on the 18th to post a winning score of 38 points.
RESULTS:
1st Place George Wilson (24) – 38
2nd Place Nigel Henson (14) – 37 c/b
3rd Place Craig Hitchins (19) – 37 c/b
4th Place George Mueller (20) – 37
