A warm, sunny day greeted the Links Golf Society crew as they took on the challenge of Pattavia Country Club. What looked like perfect golfing conditions quickly turned into a real test, with lightning-fast greens and some devilishly placed pins catching plenty of players out.
Despite the struggle, there was plenty of appreciation for the course itself. The layout was in fantastic condition, and the greens—while tough—were rolling beautifully and added a real edge to the day’s play.
A proper test of golf all round, where patience (and a good putting stroke!) proved to be just as important as power off the tee.
Taking top honours and green jacket winner was “The Claw” Keith Melbourne, who put together a superb round of 36 points playing off a handicap of 32. A fantastic effort on a day where the greens proved a real challenge—well played, Keith.
Second place went to the ever-consistent Soren Hansen with 33 points off 18, once again showing his class. In third, on 31 points and winning on countback, was the German bombshell Michael Renner, playing off 8.
Just missing out on the podium in fourth was local owner Grant Pride, also with 31 points off 8, followed by Felipe Enesco in fifth, who also posted 31 points but lost out on countback with a back nine of 13.
Nearest the pin honours were shared by Michael ” the pin chaser ” Effendic ,Michael Rinner, Andy “The Machine” Kelleher and Felipe Enisco
A tough day on the greens, but plenty of quality golf on show—well done to all who took on the challenge.An enjoyable day had by all, with plenty of laughs along the way despite the tricky conditions.
Next up, Monday’s game heads to the quirky Hermes Golf Club. The bus will be leaving at 10:00am for an 11:30 tee-off, so be sure to get your name down early.
