Most people have heard the phrase Glorious Goodwood in reference to an English race course but on Wednesday we were at Glorious Greenwood for our 2-man scramble. It was looking ominous on our travels up to Greenwood and with rain forecast, the threat of weather spoiling the day was a real prospect. All our fears would put to rest upon arrival however and although it was obvious that the course had suffered from heavy rain through the night, we were greeted with near perfect conditions.

It was certainly a glorious day for our intrepid golfers from Wigan, Phil Penney and Neil Johnson, who came in with a score of 55. Astonishingly it went to a count back with Phil and Neil beating Keith Melbourne and Russell Blatchford on a better last 6 holes. Third place went to the big hitting duo of Glen Elsworth and Mark Bishop.

At the presentation, held in The Snug upon return, Russell, and the choir, gave us a rousing version of the Olde Rogues anthem. The official name of the lead singer, (Russell Blatchford), and his backing group is Russell and the Snugettes.

A special mention should go to Michel DeleTraz who stepped in at the last moment to make up the numbers after we had a late call off. The management of the Olde Rogues and The Snug would like to thank all players and staff at Glorious Greenwood for making it such a successful and special day.

Next week sees us heading to Treasure Hill on the Monday and Parichat on Wednesday.
