The Olde Rogues had 5 groups that ventured out to Greenwood to give Russell Blatchford, Maurie Denton and John Coey a send-off they will never forget. Although there were dark clouds and the odd rumble of thunder, we were once again lucky as far as the weather was concerned. Given nines C & B to play, the course was in excellent condition.
There were some great scores with 5 players breaking the 40 points mark and 3 more in the high 30`s. It was soon to be going home John Coey who led the way with 43 points. It was a splendid effort from John who had 24 on the front C nine, and 19 on B. Martin Patch and Tony Browne battled it out for the runners-up spot with Tony edging out his playing partner courtesy of a birdie on the last hole. The battle for 4th and 5th place was just as tight with Billy Buchanan edging out John Pierrel thank to a better last 6 holes. Billy also claimed the prize for the aggregate total on the par 5`s with 11 points. Phil Mitchell, who had 38 points, managed to go round with only 26 putts which beat Nigel Henson by 1.
Many thanks to Russell, Maurie and John for their sponsorship. All three of you will be sorely missed. Many thanks also to all the players for giving the 3 Aussies a great day out.
