We finished the week with a visit to the very local Phoenix Gold so we didn’t have far to travel back with the final days of Songkran celebrations.
Having not played Phoenix for a few months we were all looking forward to playing there but with the mountain 9 closed we played Lakes and Ocean and it has to be said the Lakes 9 is in terrible condition and the pin placements were an absolute joke!
We won’t be rushing back there until the Mountains reopen but on the bright side it was a very rapid day in good weather playing golf with great friends.
Today we played the white tees at just over 6000 yards but only 1 player out of the 6 groups managed to break par.
Congratulations to last years race to Phuket winner Tony Danford with 38pts.
It was Tony’s last day before a trip back to the States so a great way to sign off.
2nd place went to the most inform golfer around Guy Stewart with 36pts and his 5th podium finish since his return.
3rd place was myself with 35pts after a terrible start with 2 pts through 3 holes it was a great comeback on the Oceans 9 with 21pts and a level par back 9.
The last spot went to my playing partner and great friend Glenn Ellesworth also with 35pts. Standing on 18 with a 2 shot lead over me Glenn proceeded to choke on the par 5 and blob the hole… I was heart broken for him. Great to see you mate
Thanks to everyone who has played through Songkran week we’ve had some good turnouts and zero problems with traffic getting back so all in all it been a success and great fun.
