Mountain Shadow Blue tees
Medal
1st Alan Sullivan (15) Net 72
2nd Michael Brett (15) Net 75
3rd John Webb (26) Net 75
Near pins Hubert Stiefenhofer, & Michael Brett
The first medal round of the month was played at Mountain Shadow, a course that is in surprisingly good condition and good value at 1250 baht all-in. A small field was on hand as several were making the trip to Kanchanaburi and six games in a row is a bit too much for some.
Several golfers are carrying injuries also, two with shoulder complaints, one with a knee problem, and one with an issue with an ankle, father time is catching up on the group.
Scores were modest today with only Alan Sullivan putting in a good shift with a score of net seventy-two. Michael Brett edged out John Webb for second on countback.
For the second game in a row remarkably only two near pins were taken, both on the front nine with Hubert Stiefenhofer and Michael Brett being the successful ones.16).

Pattaya Country Club
1st Kevin LaBar (16) 39 points
2nd Alan Sullivan (15) 33 points
3rd Steve Durey (31) points
Near pins Kevin LaBar, & Jimmy Carr X 2.
Spitting rain fell for much of the front nine today at Pattaya Country Club where we had a small group on hand as most were on tour in Kanchanaburi.
The course was in excellent order with plenty of lush grass on the fairways and the greens fast and true. There were very few playing so a nice fast round with no holdups was had.
Apart from Kevin LaBar’s score of thirty-nine the rest were very mediocre. Kevin was also heading for a low score with only thirteen on the front but he came to life on the back with a fabulous score of twenty-six with six pars and a birdie. He also managed a near pin with Jimmy Carr taking two, not a great day otherwise for Jimmy losing all three sixes

Burapha A & B, White tees.
1st Michael Brett (15) 41 points
2nd Jimmy Carr (23) 38 points
3rd Kevin Labar (15) 37 points
A real sting lay in wait for us today at Burapha with an all-in fee of two thousand four hundred and fifty baht as the day was deemed a Songkran Public Holiday.
The A & B nines at Burapha had been closed for some time for routine maintenance and today was the first day back in use again and in beautiful condition it has to be said. Normally we play from the blue tees but because of recent rain and no run on the fairways it was decided to play from the whites, still close enough to our regular distance of six thousand five hundred.
Ideal weather conditions at the start of play, however the wind got up on the back nine and with it came a brief shower, not sufficient to stop play, just make everybody uncomfortable for a while.
Whilst not reaching the normally very high scores achieved at this course today’s scores were decent. Michael Brett enjoying a rare day out with the putter took the honours with forty-one points. Three back Jimmy Carr took second with thirty-eight with Kevin LaBar a further stroke back in third. We didn’t have a near pin competition today. Two in a row for Jimmy losing all three sixes, his favourite part of the game.
We return to Burapha again before month end when we are hoping for a more reasonable all-in fee.
Alan Sullivan, winner at Mountain Shadow.
Kevin LaBar, winner at Pattaya Country Club.
