OLD ROGUES GOLF REPORT LEE AND VIC HEAD THE WAY AT ROYAL LAKESIDE

We took 52 golfers to Royal Lakeside for our mid-week bash and many thanks to the staff of Royal Lakeside for accommodating our extra groups. Also, many thanks to the starters who did an excellent job in getting us all away. There was some heavy rain on the way to the course but thankfully it had stopped by the time we arrived and although it was overcast at the start, the sun soon broke through and perfect weather ensued.

Before going on to the golf, there are a few people to thank for making the day such a success. To Dave Boyes and Ian Duers in their assistance for getting the clubs sorted. To Keith Melbourne and Vic Hansen in assisting with the starting and to Garry Lyon in helping to put everything away on our return. Also, a fond farewell to Peter and Mandy Trotter who return home at the weekend. Thank you so much for your support.

We had 2 flights today with the cut off being 17 handicap. Lee Smith was an early starter and his 42 points was unbeaten to head flight B. Lee headed Flight `B` by 5 points from Gerard Bouzy. Gerard`s PSC handicap is 43 but for us, our limit for men is 36. Gerard`s 37 points was a great score and he received much acclaim at the presentation. Gerard just edged out the consistent Garry Lyon on a count back. Ian Docherty, Tony Fagan and Patrick Haly were the other podium winners for Flight `B`.

In Flight `A`, Vic Hansen was another early started and he came in with 40 points to take the win over Jim Miller who shot 39. In 3rd place was 5 handicapper Peter Milne with 38 which equated to a 3 over par round – excellent golf. Peter is a member of Nigg Bay in Aberdeen which sits high up on the coast at sunny Aberdeen.

On the return we celebrated the birthday of Larry Eden. Larry has been the generous sponsor of our Magic 2`s and will soon be heading home. Have a safe flight home Larry and thanks for your generosity.

Our monthly 2-man scramble will be at Pattavia on Friday is fully booked with 13 groups. Its worth remembering that there is a good saving to be had as you can share a cart. Just remember that if you do share a cart you have to both go together when you pay.

On the 2nd of March we will be holding a Memorial Day for Phil Davies at Bang Pakong. The `sign up` has been posted on the Line Group. Phil was a true legend of the Pattaya golf scene and is sadly missed.
