Greenwood
On Tuesday, after our morning coffee at the new MyBar location, we headed to Greenwood to play the A & B loop. The weather was overcast and pleasantly cool—perfect conditions for golf. The course was in excellent shape, and we had a strong turnout with 12 players.
Given the good conditions, we expected solid scores, and the results did not disappoint. More than half the field scored in the 30s, making it a tight battle at the top. In the end, Neale Savery emerged as the man of the day with an impressive 41 Stableford points. Close behind was Allan Cassin, runner-up with 39 points.
At the other end, John Pegrum had a tough day and took home the spoon.
Near Pins went to Allan Cassin, Robert Charbonneau, and Sam Gettinby.
Pattavia – The Scramble
Thursday brought us to Pattavia for a 2-man scramble, a special event to celebrate Mark Bromwich’s birthday and the first scramble played within our group. We had an excellent turnout with 18 players. The weather was fantastic—cool with a refreshing breeze—and the course was in good condition, though the tricky greens challenged many of us.
The competition was lively, especially after the morning discussions about handicaps and team pairings. Some groups found the right balance and played very well, while others struggled. Out on the course, it was hard to tell who was leading, but back at MyBar, Mark did the calculations to determine the winners.
The team of the day was Nigel Irvine and Gary Lees, finishing with a net score of 63.55. In second place were Lee Perriam and Mark Bromwich, just behind with 63.85.
Meanwhile, Robert Charbonneau and Seamus O’Connor had difficulty with the formula and ended up with the spoon.
Near Pins went to Allan Cassin, Neil Harvey, and Sam Jeffery (twice).
After the presentation, we continued the celebrations for Mark’s birthday. Don provided a delicious buffet, and the group enjoyed a birthday cake in Mark’s honor.
