PLUTALUANG
On Tuesday, 14 of us headed to Plutaluang to take on the North & West loops — the toughest combination there. The day was hot again, with just a touch of breeze to cool us. The course was in good condition, and we set off with plenty of energy.
The scores reflected the challenge: only one player managed to beat his handicap. Bob Edwards continued his fine form from last week, winning with 39 Stableford points. Seamus O’Connor, in his final week before heading home, secured runner-up with 35 points.
Paul Davies and Dave Smith battled for the dreaded spoon, with Dave taking it on countback.
Near pins went to Allan Cassin (three times!) and Robert Charbonneau.
Mick Bryant played his last round and we are looking forward to his come back.
GARY LEES ON FIRE AT GREENWOOD
Thursday brought us to Greenwood, where we played the B & C loops with a lively group of 17. Greenwood is always a favorite — well maintained and in excellent condition — and this time we were welcomed into the new clubhouse, a huge improvement.
It was another hot day, though with more breeze, and the course rewarded good play. Seven players broke their handicap. The standout was Gary Lees, who was in superb form, keeping his shots long and straight to finish with an incredible 47 Stableford points. Bravo! Runner-up was Mike Malott with 40 points.
Dave Smith’s tough week continued, as he once again went home with the spoon.
Near pins were claimed by Dave Smith, Sam Jeffery, and Allan Cassin.
