The Ryder Cup is the highlight of our golfing year, with players from Great Britain & Ireland taking on the Rest of the World. We had 68 players on each day — a total of 136 players over two days, which is a record attendance for our society.
The GB & Ireland team was captained by Frank Ward, while the Rest of the World team was led by Woody.
Both days produced fantastic golf played in the right spirit, with everyone enjoying the competition. After day one, GB & Ireland held a narrow one-point lead, setting up an exciting finale with fourball and singles match play on Friday.
On day two, the Rest of the World team raised their game significantly and went on to secure an emphatic overall victory by 12 points.
Following the golf, we returned to Magic Bar where Chef prepared a superb buffet for all to enjoy. After dinner, scores were read out match by match, with plenty of great banter throughout.
Congratulations to Woody and the Rest of the World team on a fantastic win.
The celebrations continued with a great night at the bar, featuring live music from the very talented Dhudz & Rain from the Philippines.
A big thank you to everyone who helped make the Ryder Cup such a success:
• All members who took part
• Both team captains
• Jum for registering players on day one
• Greenwood Golf Club for their excellent organisation
