3 DAYS COMPETITION IN KANCHANABURI

We had exciting and interesting days in Kanchanaburi. Monday morning, we left early from MyBar for our first round at Royal Ratchaburi. We had a good drive to the course and after an early lunch we started with 4 flights at noon. Some of us played from the blue and others from the white tees.

The weather was overcast and the course in good condition. It is a challenging course, what you could see in the results. Only one was able to play his handicap and only 5 players in the thirties. But we enjoyed playing here again.

Patrick Troy was the man and the winner of the day with 37 stable ford points. Runner up was Bob Edwards with 35 points.

After a shower and a drink, we took off for Kanchanaburi in a drive of about 1 hour. We stayed in 2 resorts, Ploy Resort and neighbour resort Pong Pen. Both located on the river Kwai.

After dinner we inspected Kanchanaburi, but there had everybody his own adventure.

The next morning, we went after breakfast to Blue Sapphire. A course unknown by us. The Google navigation system had troubles to bring us strait to the course. But we al found it on time for our tee off at 10 am.

We were pleasantly surprised by this course. It is located on a huge domain. A really beautiful course with challenging holes and many ponds. It was again a nice day for golf with overcast weather. Just at the end we were surprised by a heavy shower.

Although the course was unknown for us were the results better than the first day. Maybe everybody had a good night rest.

There were 9 players in the thirties, a good results. The man of the day and the winner was Robert Pentland. He played very consistent and won with 39 stable ford points. The runner up was decided on the count back. Steve Sturley became second with 34 points, beating Mark Bromwich and Neale Savery on the count back.

Wednesday, the last day of our trip we went to our favourite course, Grand Prix Golf Club.  You must have been here; it is really an amazing course. The condition of the course is very and the scenery is breathtaking. Again, nice overcast weather, so we had a good day.

The last day is a special, we played for the price, but also you play for the overall victory. We had 8 contenders with only 5 points difference over the previous days. The top players were grouped together. It became an exciting battle.

First the day result. Allan Cassin was in good form and won with 37 stable ford points. He just beat Patrick Troy on the last hole. Patrick became runner up with 36 points.

The overall classification was also exciting. There were 3 players in the “100”s, Neale Savery, Bob Edwards and Patrick Troy. Neale could defend his lead with a good back nine, beating Bob on the countback. Patrick closed with 100 points, just 1 shot short on the back nine.

During the presentation in Ploy Resort we had the opportunity to exchange all our challenges of the day and prepare for the last night in Kanchanaburi.
