Friday saw us go to Pattaya Country Club for a Ryder Cup event where Europe took on the Rest of the World. On a glorious day, 12 from Australia, New Zealand, United States and Thailand took on 12 from Europe and gave them a bit of a spanking. With 12 points at stake for the fourball matches, Captain Cliff`s team won by 9 points to 3. Europe did fair slightly better when it came to the singles losing 7-5 do give the Rest of the World a 16 – 8 victory. The battle of the sexes, Glen Elsworth and George Mueller against Maey and Mai, was won by Glen and George with a 4 and 2 triumph and a halve.
The leading score on the day went to Phil Penney with 41 points. It was an excellent score on a course that was playing very long. Mike Keir has been in good form and was runner-up to Phil. Third place went to Scottie Brown who faced big hitters Chris DeLaMare and Alan Smith in the opening fourballs.
So many people to thank for making it such a successful day. The lads from the Hackers who got the vouchers, Kevin LaBar who filled in at the last minute and all who helped with the organising. A special mention to Kesorn and the girls at The Snug for the great food and keeping everyone supplied with refreshments.
