Our mid-week match saw us take 16 players up to Greenwood to tackle A and B nines from the white tees. Greenwood is always in excellent condition and today was no different. Great staff, great course and a great price.
Huge thank you to Paul Tidy who sponsored our near pins today. Paul is going back to the UK on Thursday and will be sorely missed. Also, a big welcome to Dave Arataki and John Malet. John recently returned and will be heading off to Australia for a flying visit to see the first two Tests of the British Lion against the Wallabies.
It was a close run battle at Greenwood with Mike Tootenham, who carded 38 points, just edging 4 players on 37. Phil Penney topped with 37 points with his back 9 of 19 points. Three others, Vito Cirelli, John Malet and Tony Browne, all with 37 points, all came close. Vito`s 18 on the back 9 secured 3rd place with John getting the better of Tony on the better last 2 holes.
Please note that on the 25th of July at Pattaya Country Club we will be having a Ryder Cup which very much looks like it will be Europe against the Rest of the World. The format will be better ball 4 ball with holes 1 – 9 being 1 match and holes 10 – 18 being a separate match. As for the singles, each team will put their scorecards into separate boxes and a draw will be made. Their will also be an individual competition based on stableford points.
