Bangpra is a course that rarely disappoints, always in very fine condition. Today was one of those rare occasions when it was less than perfect. Due to recent heavy rain the course was in serious need of a good mowing, the tee boxes were overgrown, the fairways were difficult due to too much grass, even the greens which are normally fast and true were disappointing, unusual but there you go.
There were two no returns today, one from Jimmy Carr who sustained a back injury on the back nine (no pun intended) and couldn’t continue, the other from Peter Bottrell who was doing fine for three holes but then had a run of outs before throwing in the towel.
Craig Dows made a return to form taking first place with thirty-five points, not great but under the circumstances acceptable. Bil Richardson took second a stroke adrift with Robbie Watts taking third with thirty-two points. All the near pins were taken as listed.

For a variety of reasons today’s game at Bangpra had to be cancelled. This is the first time in memory that a game had to be cancelled other than for rain. Normal service will be resumed on Friday.

Following a lay day on Wednesday it was back to business as usual for the last game of the week at Mountain Shadow. With a bit of luck we may finally be out of this rainy season, the golf courses have had enough water for the time being.
A number of members seem to have lost the gra for golf and with a couple on the injury list we continue to struggle for numbers, but we believe there are several visitors on the way in the coming weeks.
Not a complete surprise, scores were modest today as they usually are at this course, one of the more difficult on our roster. Steve Downes took first place on countback from Chris Delamare with thirty-four points, Robbie Watts was third with thirty-one. All the near pins were taken as listed.
Expressions of interest are being sought for a short trip away next month to either Royal Hills or Kabin Buri, anybody wishing to partake in a short break from Pattaya should contact Tony Robbins at their earliest convenience.
