Our mid-week game saw us take 4 groups up to Treasure Hill where we welcomed back Jean Louis Goergen and Garry Chrystal. As has been well documented but well worth another mention, the last time we were at Treasure Hill one of our players, Phil Penney, was badly injured and the treatment he received from the staff at Treasure Hill was second to none with them taking Phil to hospital and giving him a full refund.
The fairways were in good condition with fast greens but the only downside is that on over 50% of the holes, work was going on to the fairways leading up to the greens which resulted in a lot of `ground under repair` short of the putting surface. With high season just around the corner, we hope that the remedial work has `knitted in` and becomes playable.
George Wilson, who hails from a small Ayrshire village called Auchinleck, was cream of the crop today with 37 points which is an excellent score under difficult conditions. Runner-up was another Ayrshire lad, John Browning who shot 35 points. One can only hope that the rivalry between George and John turns full circle on Sunday when John`s Kilmarnock are victorious against George`s Glasgow, 2012, Rangers.
The remaining podium places went to Tony Browne, who carded 21 points on the more difficult back 9, and Paul Longstaff.
