Our first game of the week saw us travel up to play Royal Lakeside. Like Bang Pakong, it is maybe another 10 minutes up the road but is well worth the extra travelling time. Despite how quiet most courses are at the moment, we still managed 4 groups to take on what is a very popular course.
The course itself was in excellent condition with greens that are fast and true, fairways like a carpet and well-kept bunkers. All was set up for a high scoring round and for 2 golfers in particular, that is exactly what they produced. Mike Babb, playing off 26, had one of those days where everything fell into place and he carded 2 halves of 22 points. Tony Cliff, playing off a handicap of 12 shot a 5 over par round of 77 to come within one point of catching Mike. Great golf by both Mike and Tony. Big hitter Alan Smith was 3rd with 37 with Billy Buchanan completing the podium with 35.
