Monday April 20th
Greenwood
Due to most still in being in Kanchanaburi and the few left not in the mood for golf todays round was cancelled
Wednesday, April 22nd
Burapha C & D.
1st Colin Greig (14) 42 points
2nd Michael Brett (15) 34 points
3rd Jimmy Carr (22) 34 points
Near pins Colin Greig X 4
We hadn’t been to Burapha since last low season so we were looking forward to a return visit. We were able to start ahead of our scheduled time and in front of a couple of visiting groups.
A & B nine were closed so we were allocated the C & D. Speed of play was excellent until we reached the closing holes when it became a grind.
Dark skies were in the distance but a caddie assured us it would not rain as the wind would keep it away, however her prediction was just about as accurate as some of her put reads, still it was not heavy enough to stop play.
Another forty plus score from Colin Greig, his third in a week saw him take first place and put him out of reach in the golfer of the month race as well as setting a new all time record total for the month. He also managed to join the elite “all four” club taking all the near pins. Not content with that he played sixes in a three ball and won all three, doubling the normal return. Michael Brett took second on countback from Jimmy Carr despite setting a record for the most three puts.
Friday, April 24th
Treasure Hill
Paul Smith (2) 32 points
2nd Uwe Jurgensen (28) 30 points
3rd Craig Dows (6) 28 points
Near pins Paul Smith, & Colin Greig X 2.
The magnificent scores of the past two weeks seemed but a distant memory today. Excuses varied from too many trees to slow greens.
Never an easy course, regarded by many as the most difficult on our roster today it was on another level with only two scores of thirty or better. Under the circumstances a score of thirty-two off a two handicap was excellent from Paul Smith. Uwe Jurgensen was next best with thirty points with Craig Dows bringing up the rear with twenty-eight points. One decided not to play as the course was too easy off the yellows, one can only wonder what he would have scored. One near pin to Paul Smith and two to Colin Greig completed what was a miserable day on the course.
Still two more rounds to go for Colin Greig to add to his record monthly tally in the golfer of the month race, can he do it?
Colin Greig, winner at Burapha.
Paul Smith, winner at Treasure Hill
