10 Groups headed to Pattavia for the opening round of the Olde Rogues Club Championship. It was another perfect day played in good conditions on a very demanding golf course. The greens in particular were very hard to combat with positioning of the golf ball key to a good score.
With 38 players competing, 28 of which were in the Club Championship, there were 2 Flights with the split being 0 – 18 and 19+. In Flight A, it was Alan Penny who took the winners spot with 37 points. Alan is on a good roll just now and had his first ever hole in one last week. Runner-up was Glen Elsworth who came in with 35. Glen and his partner Maey, have been away for a while and have moved house. It was good to see them back. Also returning was Phil Thompson and Johnny Reps. The remaining podium places went to Vic Hansen and Robert Cha.
Scores of the day went to Flight B where Tony Browne and Rob Davis battled it out with Tony edging out Rob with 41 points to Rob`s 40. It was a splendid effort from both players. Tony and Rob were well clear of Ged Blairs and Maey who shot 35 and 34 respectively.
A special thanks today to Duncan Matheson, George Wilson and Garry Chrystal who helped with the starting duties and collection of score cards. Finally, we bid a sad farewell to George Wilson who is returning back to Australia for a period of time. George has been a great help and a valuable member of the team in making The Olde Rogues such a success. Have a safe trip my friend.
