The Links Golf Society Report. Silky Oak: There is a new bride in town

Today, Friday 27th Links played at Silky Oaks, Silky by name but hard by nature. The team likes to be challenged by long fairways, water carries of 150 yards plus and birds nest type par 3s. In fact at least one member was heard to say “I’m never playing here again” but this was immediately retracted upon making a birdie
The top four place getters were a mixture of low handicap men and a high handicapper woman. Janja the sole woman represented the sisterhood quite well by placing and just being knocked off for closest to the pin. The tough course meant that you needed to be straight and true, and first place getters Steve Elles did this well, finally becoming the bride after being the bridesmaid for a few competitions before. Well done mate. Selwyn Yates never far from winning came in second place on countback with Janja who came in third on countback. Rounding out the 4 was the ever consistent John Doyle.
A special mention to Chris Brader who toiled away under constant sledging form the author.
