Friday saw us take 7 groups up to Pleasant Valley with many taking advantage for a practice round prior to the First Round of our Club Championship commencing on November 28. We were extremely lucky, and thankful, to be placed ahead of a scramble event which allowed our 28 players to get an earlier start. Unfortunately, the earlier start didn’t really pay dividends as by the time our first 4 ball group got to the 10th there were 5 groups in front of them. This is something we probably need to get used to for the high season. On a positive side, everyone complimented the condition of the course.
Among the groups it was good to welcome back Asgar Levinsen, Callum Smith, Max Hedayati, Ray Ward and Stu Kidd.
It was Stu Kidd who mastered the conditions and the course with 20 points in each half to top the board with 40 points. Runners-up and 3rd places were decided on a countback with Paul Longstaff just edging out Lee Smith after both came home with 38 points. There were many scores on 36 points with the top two being John Browning and Jim Miller.
Just as a quick reminder, our Club Championship commences at Pleasant Valley on 28th November. The format is the same as last year with the best 3 rounds out of 4 determining the winner. Round 2 will be at Bang Pakong, round 3 at Pattavia with the final round at Greenwood.
