Wednesday saw us travel up to Treasure Hill where there is a lot of maintenance taking place in preparation for the high season. On Monday, one of our players was laid low by a wasp but made a speedy recovery. At Treasure Hill, another of our players was laid low with a much more serious injury. Phil Penney had played 2 shots on the first hole when he fell and, in an effort to save himself, sustained a serious muscle injury to his upper arm which forced his retirement. When Phil went back to the club house, he was treated magnificently by the staff. Phil was no longer able to drive so one of the staff drove him to the hospital in Phil`s own car where he received treatment. When they returned to Treasure Hill, he was given a full return on his golf fees. This was a great gesture by Treasure Hill and one which was greatly appreciated.
As for the golf, Russell Blatchford continued his rich vein of form with another excellent performance. Any par score of 36 points at Treasure Hill is a good score and this is exactly what Russell came in with. Runner up was George Mueller with 32 followed by Billy Buchanan with 31.
