Wednesday saw us partake in a Ryder Cup event at Bang Pakong between Scotland and France against The Rest of the World. The format was 16 players per side with each group playing 2 fourball stableford matches. Holes 1-9 was first match with holes 10-18 being 2nd match. This was followed by 16 `blind` singles.
Before going onto the results, we would like to thank everyone who took part in what was a most successful and entertaining day with particular thanks to Garry Chrystal and Garry Lyon for supplying the Scotland shirts. It was a very generous act and much appreciated. Congratulations to all 32 players and in particular to the full buses that left the Olde Rogues at 6 am.
The Entente Cordiale, Scotland and France, took an early lead in the 4 balls but the Rest of the World came back strongly in the middle match ups to take a 9-5 lead before George Wilson and John Browning reduced the deficit when they won the final 2 matches which enabled the Rest of the World to take a 9-7 lead into the blind singles.
As for the individual events, Scotland`s Garry Lyon headed the field with 41 points closely flowed by Ian Altiss with 40. All said and done, it was a hugely successful and fun day and many thanks to the management and staff at Bang Pakong. Bang Pakong should be hugely congratulated for tempering their prices to allow players to play on a marvellous course at 1750 baht all in with a PSC voucher.
On the 2nd of March we will be holding a Memorial Day for Phil Davies at Bang Pakong. The `sign up` has been posted on the Line Group. Phil was a true legend of the Pattaya golf scene and is sadly missed.
