The golfing week began with a trip up to Bangpakong Riverside and it was nice to be greeted with a cool day without the threat of rain.
As always here we were looked after extremely well. The course was in good shape but not its best yet. I think a few weeks of dry weather and it will be back to it’s immaculate ways we are used to.
We had 32 golfers playing in the competition today with several new faces again and more of our winter golfers coming back which was nice.
As always it was the white tees at 6400 yards. We had lots of good scores in which is always the case at Bangpakong.
Today’s winner is a new comer, travelling here with a group of friends from Australia and really enjoying the golf society.
Congratulations to Pete Fishlock with 41pts winning by 2 shots. Great round Pete shooting 2 over par off a 7 handicap.
2nd place was my playing partner Peter Hargreaves with 39pts. Pete was so consistent all day and shot 1 under par off his 2 handicap.
3rd place went Gene McNulty also with 39pts missing out on a countback but had a great front 9 with 22pts.
4th place was the man who calls this course home…. Rocky Jones with 38pts.
Rocky shot the low gross of the day with a 2 under off his scratch handicap.
5th place went to another new comer John Lopes with 38pts just missing out to Rocky on a countback who had 21pts on his back 9 and John had 20pts. Well played John.
The Last spot was separated by a 4 way countback but it was new comer Greg Flaherty with 36pts the clinched the final podium place.
