The 1st of March was St David`s Day, the patron saint of Wales. What better day to commemorate the passing of our good friend Phil Davies. Phil is sorely missed by the golfing fraternity of Pattaya where he did so much to promote the sport.
To honour his memory, the Olde Rogues travelled to Laem Chabang which was one of Phil`s favourite venues. We were lucky to be given 4 slots in their busy schedule. Laem Chabang was designed by Jack Nicklaus and consists of 3 x 9 hole courses all of which were in play. We were given A & B nines. The organisation at Laem Chabang is second to none. With over 340 golfers on the day we started exactly at our given first tee time of 13.10.
As for the golf, 8 handicapper Paul Durkan was the early leader with 43 points. An excellent score from Durks which equated to a one over par round. Phil Penney challenged with a very good score of 40 points but it was another Paul, this time Paul Tidy, who set the course on light with an amazing 46 points. Paul`s score included holing a bunker shot for a birdie on the 16th hole when he looked like dropping a shot.
The Olde Rogues, on behalf of the Davies family, would like to thank all who took part and we would like to thank Laem Chabang for giving us the slots for what was a memorable day for a dear departed friend.
