First day of the week saw us take 11 pairings up to Treasure Hill for our monthly 2 man scramble. The course was in very good condition and very well priced at 1480 all in with a PSC card. Like the course, the weather was excellent and very quiet which enabled us to get an early start.
Before going on to the golf, it was great to welcome back John Carlton, Vero Morgan and Robert Cha – all who played admirably in the competion. It was Robert Cha and Phil Mitchell who set the course on fire with an astonishing gross score of 6 under par which, off the white tees, was a tremendous effort. Their round got away to a perfect start with an eagle at the very first hole and although they bogeyed the 2nd hole, a further 5 birdies saw them finish at 66. Playing off a handicap of 4.75 enabled them to post a net score of 61.25. John and Vero also managed to gross an under-par score and with a handicap of 7.75, returned a net score of 63.25. The final podium place was a much closer affair with George Wilson and Russell Blatchford heading a long list with their score of 67.00.
In a much anticipated off the cuff challenge match, the partnership of Buchanan and Mabbett defeated the Hullies – Paul Tidy and Dave Boyes – by 2 & 1.
