Pleasant Valley
On Tuesday we visited Pleasant Valley, where we were delighted to welcome back Tony Chetland over coffee. A fine turnout of 17 players enjoyed another beautiful day on a well‑prepared course.
Despite the good conditions, Pleasant Valley is never easy. Only two players managed to beat their handicap: Tony Oakes and Mick Bryan, both scoring 37 Stableford points. Tony claimed victory on countback.
We had just one lady in the field today, and she accepted the spoon with good humor.
Near pins: Allan Cassin, Paul Carver, Neil Harvey, and Mike Mallot.
Greenwood
Thursday’s venue was Greenwood, where we played the A & C courses. Over morning coffee we were pleased to see our Australian friend David Lyon join us. Once again, 17 players turned out, and Greenwood lived up to its reputation—beautifully maintained and always a pleasure to play.
Scoring was strong, with half the group in the 30s. Six players equaled or bettered their handicap, while three more finished just two points shy. The standout was Dave Smith, who posted an excellent 40 Stableford points. Runner‑up was Sam Jeffery with 39, while Gary Lees missed a prize by a single point.
Lonnie Johnson, caught off guard by the high scoring, took home the spoon.
Near pins: Steve Lunt and Sam Jeffery.
