PATTAYA COUNTRY CLUB – ST. PARTICK’S CUP
MyBar was decked out in green for the morning coffee, setting the perfect tone for our St. Patrick’s Cup. Excitement was high, and we had a fantastic turnout of 22 players for this special event. Sunshine and a gentle breeze made for ideal playing conditions, and the course was in excellent shape—just right for good scores.
And good scores we had! Many players beat their handicaps, but prizes required more than 40 points. Leading the field were Mark Bromwich and Willem Lasonder, both finishing with 42 Stableford points. Mark claimed victory on countback, with Willem in second. John Dean followed closely in third place with 41 points.
We also had an extra nomination for the “growth winner,” which went to Sam Jeffery with 25 points, edging out Dave Smith on countback.
This time, the coveted “super green spoon” found a home with Bob Edwards, who was eager to take it away.
Near pins were claimed by Sam Jeffery, Dave Smith, John Dean, and Nigel Irving.
Special thanks go to Seamus O’Connor for initiating this competition, to Mark Bromwich for serving breakfast to the hungry early birds, and to Don for the fine meal back at MyBar. Gratitude also to Michael Cunningham, sponsor of the third prize, and to Mark again for surprising winners with beautiful MyBar shirts.
CRYSTAL BAY
On Thursday, our venue was Crystal Bay, where 10 enthusiastic players gathered over coffee before heading out. Once again, the weather was kind—sunshine and a pleasant breeze—but the course showed signs of stress from insufficient watering, with dry, yellow patches across the fairways. Fortunately, the greens remained in excellent condition.
Despite the challenges, scores were strong. The man of the day was Robert Charbonneau, who won with 42 Stableford points, highlighted by seven pars on the back nine. Mick Bryan also played impressively, finishing runner‑up with 39 points.
This time, the spoon went to Maurice, who accepted it in good spirit.
