MOUNTAIN SHADOW
On Tuesday, 15 players joined us at Mountain Shadow. We were pleased to welcome our guest player, Martin. Over coffee we discussed the challenges of this course—and later we experienced them firsthand.
The course was in good condition, setting the stage for a competitive round. Despite the fine conditions, the difficulty meant that nobody managed to play to their handicap. The finish was dramatic, with four players tied on 33 points. Allan Cassin emerged as the winner, edging out Steve Lunt, Bob Edwards, and Mike Mallot on countback.
For Martin, it was his first outing with the group, and he was awarded the spoon.
Near pins: Steve Lunt, Maurice Paradis, and Bob Edwards.
PATTANA
Thursday took us to Pattana, where we played the A & B courses. It had been quite some time since our last visit here. The early start wasn’t ideal for everyone, but we still had an excellent turnout of 19 players—boosted by John Pegrum, who introduced three friends.
The course was in superb condition, and it was a pleasure to play here again. As expected, it proved challenging: only one player managed to beat his handicap. That was John Pegrum, who scored an impressive 38 points, perhaps inspired by the presence of his guests.
Martin found it tough going once more and collected the spoon again.
Near pins: Dave Smith, Maurice Paradis, and Graham Dorward (twice).
