🔥 Challenging Heat at Mountain Shadow
It was a blazing Tuesday morning as our two groups gathered over coffee before heading out to Mountain Shadow. The course was in good condition, but the sweltering heat proved relentless—likely affecting everyone’s performance. Known for its difficulty, Mountain Shadow lived up to its reputation, and the scores reflected the challenge.
Not a single player managed to break the 30-point Stableford barrier, a rare and humbling outcome. Still, spirits remained high, and the low handicappers showed their class. Allan Cassin emerged victorious with 28 points, followed closely by Nigel Irvine with 27, edging out Steve Lunt on countback.
Robin Simons, despite securing a near pin, couldn’t escape the dreaded spoon. Near pins also went to Steve Lunt—well played, gentlemen.
🌥️ Pleasant Surprise at Pleasant Valley
Thursday’s venue was Pleasant Valley, and the morning began under ominous grey skies. Rain seemed imminent, but fortune favored us—the clouds parted, and we enjoyed a cooler, overcast round that spared us from the worst of the heat.
The course was in fine shape, and the scores reflected the improved conditions. The standout performance came from our seasoned veteran, Paul Davies, who was simply on fire. With a blistering 39 points on the back nine, he left the rest of the field in the dust. Allan Cassin continued his strong form, finishing runner-up with a solid 34 points.
The spoon battle was a tight one between Paul Carver and Willem Lasonder. After a meticulous countback, Paul Carver was awarded the spoon—better luck next time!
Near pins were claimed by Sam Jeffery and Allan Cassin. Well done to both!
