Squishy Pleasant Valley
On Tuesday we went to Pleasant Valley with 4 groups. It was a beautiful day with a blue sky and a strong breeze. The course was nice green, but the sprinklers were switched off too late. The fairways had many wet spots and there was no roll. We enjoyed to play but there were no spectacular scores possible.
We welcomed back Tony Chetland, Mike Mallot and Alan Eden in our group.
The lower handicappers played today from the blues and the rest from the whites.
It was a thrilling battle with a number of players close together with their scores. At the end Neil Harvey became the winner with 35 stable ford points, making a birdy on the last hole. Runner up was Sam Jeffery with 34 points.
John Feeney was the unchallenged winner of the spoon.
The near pins were for Sam Jeffery, Allan Cassin, Bob Edwards and Alan Eden.
Sunny Crystal Bay
On Thursday was our venue, Crystal Bay. It was a nice day again with a beautiful blue sky and an agreeable breeze. The course was in reasonable condition, but the tee boxes were not good. The greens looked good, but the speed was not everywhere the same. The course could look nicer, when they cleaned all the dead trees. But we enjoyed our round.
The course is getting dry and we had some more roll today. Neale Savery was in good shape today and won with 36 stable ford points. Runner up was Allan Cassin with 35 points.
Tony Chetland and Willem Lasonder fought for the spoon. Tony won on the count back.
The near pins were for Allan Cassin, Tony Chetland and Paddy Devereux.
