🎯 3 Days Undercover in Kanchanaburi – Golf, Rain, and Rescue Missions
Our latest top-secret mission—code name: “Kanchanaburi Golf Escape”—was a 3-day expedition into nature, laughs, and logistical gymnastics. Despite our best efforts, we couldn’t keep the weather gods bribed past Monday afternoon.
We had a brave troop of 13 golf warriors. Miraculously, we managed one full-group round. Sort of. Don’t ask how it ended. Our new tactical strategy? Divide and conquer—two separate resorts! Fortunately, they were next to each other, so the nightly rendezvous didn’t require GPS.
Coordination to golf courses? Imagine herding flamingos with a compass. But spirits were mostly high, even if the maps weren’t.
🗓 Monday: Operation Dragon Hills Departure: 7 a.m. from MyBar (because nothing says “ready” like a pre-dawn stumble). Teed off at 11:30 with high hopes and dry socks. Dragon Hills looked fabulous—like it had just been Instagrammed.
Then at the turn, the weather pulled the classic “plot twist.” 🌧 The brave souls in Flight 1 soldiered through the back nine with heroic fortitude. The other two flights? Thunder-shy and rain-averse. They opted for self-preservation. A standing ovation for our fearless finishers!
🏆 Winner: Peter Chai Tsai, thrilled after weeks of living in “runner-up” purgatory
🥈 Runner-up: Sam Jeffery, our consistent contender
🥄 Spoon recipient: Theo Schroeder (we hope it’s decorative)
🎯 Near pins: Sam, Dave Smith, and Theo
🗓 Tuesday: Blue Sapphire Canyon – aka “The Humble Pie Course” Another gorgeous day—just overcast enough to make us look dramatic in photos. The course was flawless…and borderline sadistic in design.
We started strong, but by the end, one player had to call it quits (emotionally or physically, we’re still not sure). Only two brave souls managed to defy their handicaps. The rest? Let’s just say “underachievers” sounds too harsh—call us “explorers of the rough.”
🏆 Winner: Lee Parren, zen master with nerves of steel
🥈 Runner-up: Neale Savery
🥄 Spoon: Mark Bromwich (accepted with dignity and possibly tears)
🎯 Near pins: Sam, Dave, Neale, and Lee
🗓 Wednesday: Grand Prix Golf Club – Beautiful Chaos Morning drama: one driver’s alarm clock went rogue. Suspicion? Button confusion or a late-night karaoke session 🍻
A pity really, because the course was a sun-kissed masterpiece. But don’t let its beauty fool you—it came with lifted greens, sneaky bunkers, and enough traps to make Indiana Jones sweat.
Two players shone, although one preferred to grumble his way to glory.
🏆 Winner: Sam Jeffery (40 points and a smile that said “finally”)
🥈 Grumpy greatness: Allan Cassin (38 points and a mildly aggressive wedge)
🥄 Spoon: Willem Lasonder (we salute you, sir)
🎯 Near pins: John Pegrum, Lee, Allan, and Sam
🏆 Kanchanaburi Cup Champion Only the last two days counted for the grand prize—because obviously, Monday didn’t count unless you were waterproof.
Lee and Sam were locked in battle. It was thrilling. It was tense. It was golf.
🥇 Champion: Lee Parren with 75 points
🥈 Runner-up: Sam Jeffery with 73 points
👑 Everyone else: glorious chaos
