Gerry Conway on fire at Royal Lakeside
On Tuesday we went to Royal Lakeside on invitation of Dave Smith for his birthday competition. We thanked the weather gods for the excellent golf weather after the rainy Monday. The course was in good condition and we had a strong breeze to keep us cool. We were with 22 competion players and divided the group in a low and high handicap competition.
In the low handicap competition was Gerry Conway the man of the day. Nobody could follow him and he won with 45 stable ford points. For the runner up was it a battle between Allan Cassin and Paul Greenaway. Both had 36 points and Allan defeated Paul on the count back.
In the high handicap competition were the scores lower. We were lucky to have 2 ladies in the competition. And more special that one of them won. Som Oakes won the high handicap with 34 stable ford points. After an intensive calculation we could call out Stan Rees as the runner up, beating Jim Reid and Rosaleen on the countback.
The near pins were for Sam Jeffrey, Acco, Paul Davies and Jonathan Pratt.
After coming back in MyBar we had a nice birthday party with nice food and drinks with a big birthday cake. We enjoyed it very much and our thanks to Don for the perfect organization.
Paul Davies received today the spoon.
Our venue for Thursday was Pattaya Country Club. We had 2 groups today. It was a nice day and the course was in good condition.
Despite the good conditions, there were no high scores today. It became a family affair.
Rosaleen Garvey won with 32 stable ford points, beating her husband Danny on the countback.
The near pins were for Jonathan Pratt and Allan Cassin.
The spoon was this time for Allan.
