Friday saw us travel up to Greenwood for our monthly 2-man scramble. Unfortunately, we were limited to 28 players as it was very busy which is no surprise bearing in mind what a good course Greenwood is. Once again, the starters did a fine job getting us off bang on time.
We were given a 2 tee start with 4 groups setting off from `A` nine and 3 from `B` nine. Two-time champions Nigel Henson and Mike Tottenham got away to a good, solid start and finished up with 16 pars, 1 birdie and 1 bogey for a level par round of 72 which equated to a net 65. Under normal circumstances that would have been good enough to retain their title but Dean Windsor and Steve Mabbett, playing off a handicap of 4.25, shot a gross three under par 69 which included 6 birdies to give them a net score of 64.75 and a win by 0.25. Huw Phillips and Dave Heyes were in 3rd place with a net 66.75 with the final podium place going to John Fallon and Mike Batt with a score of 69.00.
On the 2nd of March we will be holding a Memorial Day for Phil Davies at Bang Pakong. The `sign up` has been posted on the Line Group. Phil was a true legend of the Pattaya golf scene and is sadly missed.
