Monday May 18th.
Greenwood A & B
1st Jon Dean (17) 39 points
2nd Alan Sullivan (16) 32 points
3rd Rob Folland (19) 31 points
Near pins Alan Sullivan, Jon Dean, & Michael Brett.
As we drove to the course rain was lashing down, the sky was dark and grey and the prospects of play looked dubious. As we got to the course the rain stopped and the sky cleared somewhat so we were able to get away on time. The course was virtually empty so a nice quick round was had. We thought we would have to play pick, clean, and place, however the caddies said they didn’t get any rain so we played as it lies. Carts were allowed on the fairways.
Jon Dean showed everybody a clean pair of heels to take first place with a fine thirty nine points. Alan Sullivan took second place a full seven back with Rob Folland bringing up the rear with thirty one points. Only three near pins were taken as listed.
There is still a long way to go with the club renovations, the car park is almost complete with undercover parking for many cars, part of the old clubhouse is also being renovated. We are pleased to report that a complaint we had on our previous visit i.e. water pressure in the showers was inadequate has been rectified.
Wednesday, May 20th
Burapha A & B.
1st Walter Baechli (21) 39 points
2nd Kevin LaBar (16) 36 points
3rd Alan Sullivan (16) 36 points
4th Michael Brett (15) 36 points
Near pins, Kevin LaBar, Michael Brett, & Sunny Khanna X 2.
Yet another empty course at Burapha for the mid-week game on the A & B nines, clearly many courses are struggling for numbers right now, so we are enjoying fast rounds.
The course was in very good condition so no excuses for poor scoring.
Walter Baechli despite wiping the last two holes was the clear winner with thirty nine points, three ahead of a group of three with thirty-six separated on countback as listed. As is often the case ther last group took all the near pins.
Another day when it looked like it might rain at any minute, luckily we escaped again, eventually our luck will run out.
There is always something comical going on at the Bunker, today Kevin LaBar was having difficulty putting until he realised that he put his left contact lens in his right eye and vice versa, once corrected he stormed home on the back nine to secure second place, if only there was an option for bad putters who don’t wear contact lenses.
Friday, May 22nd
Treasure Hill
1st Tony Robbins (28) 39 points
2nd Kevin LaBar (16) 32 points
3rd Rob Folland (19) 32 points.
Near pins Rob Folland, Kevin LaBar, & Uwe Jurgensen.
Heavy overnight rain made the course damp so we played pick, clean, & place from the start. It tried to rain during the day but we managed to stay dry.
After a two month break with an alleged shoulder injury Tony Robbins showed no ill effects today taking first place with thirty nine points, he didn’t miss a put all day, if he could use the putter off the tee he would. All day long it was nip and tuck between Kevin LaBar, Rob Folland, and Michael Brett, on the very last hole Kevin got an excellent par to take it on countback. Three of the four near pins were taken as listed.
Winner at Greenwood Jon Dean.
Winner at Burapha, Walter Baechli.
Winner at Treasure Hill Tony Robbins
