“Royal Rumbles, Greenwood Glory & The Curse of the Spoon”
Tuesday, 17th June 2025 – Royal Lakeside
📍 Destination: Royal Lakeside—first visit of the year, and well worth the petrol. 🌥️ Conditions: Breezy and overcast—basically Scottish summer vibes, minus the kilt. 🟢 Course: Immaculate, like it had a spa day. 👥 Flights: Two brave squads, ready for Stableford stardom.
Three contenders led the charge: Allan “Steady Eddy” Cassin, Neale “Front Nine Fireball” Savery, and John “Peaked at the Turn” Pegrum.
Allan kept his swing smoother than a 10-year single malt and took the win with 35 points. Neale followed closely with 34, while John’s back nine form sadly resembled a squashed divot.
Meanwhile, Paul Davies had a bit of a day. The kind of round where even the ball looked like it wanted to go home early. Result: 🥄 One freshly awarded spoon.
🎯 Near Pins: Paul Davies and Sam Jeffery—precision kings of the day.
Thursday, 19th June 2025 – Greenwood (A & C Loops)
🌤️ Forecast: Threatened rain, delivered perfection—with the occasional “divine spotlight” sunbeam. 🌱 Course condition: Tuesday impressed us, but Thursday pulled a Beyoncé and said, “Hold my rake.”
We were delighted to welcome back Stephen Ford, who claimed during morning coffee that he hadn’t picked up a club in months. Naturally, he then proceeded to hit the ball like he’d been secretly living on a driving range. Long drives, clean swings—the man came back like a golf cyborg.
Stephen romped to victory with 36 points. Dave Smith trailed as runner-up with a respectable 32, which on any other day might’ve won it—if not for Stephen’s re-entry from golf hibernation.
🫣 Tale of Woe: Allan Cassin, who just 48 hours earlier wore the crown, saw his fortunes reversed and collected the spoon. From hero to… utensil holder.
🎯 Near Pins: None today. It’s unclear if the pins were shy or if our tee shots were auditioning for a gardening job.
