Our biggest mistake today was to arrive at the course too early. We teed off immediately and by the middle of the first hole it started to rain and gradually got heavier until it was teeming down on the third forcing us to take a break for shelter at which time we were soaked. Had we been on our scheduled time we would have avoided it. After it stopped raining the sun came out and it became a very nice day for the rest of the round.
The course was virtually empty, only forty-six players booked in to play, so a nice quick round was had with the course in very good condition despite the rain, a few pools of water were on a few greens for a while but drained away quickly.
It wouldn’t be golf in Pattaya lately without wind, fortunately for a change it favoured us some of the time today. With no run today scoring was difficult and was reflected in the poor scores returned. With identical scores on the front and back nines it came down to a countback on the last three holes where Alan Sullivan took it from Michael Brett. In third place Les Cobban was cruising on the front nine only to fade away on the back with a thirty points total. The struggle with par threes continues with none of the first two claimed, Alan & Les got one each on the back.
As we get closer to the monsoon season we can expect more disruption to golf, so far we are lucky to avoid the floods and devastation which has hit the north of the country.
Wednesday August 26th
Treasure Hill
With so many people either away on holiday or suffering from injuries our stocks were low today and with little appetite to play possibly the most difficult course on our roster it was decided to have a lay day. Normally service to resume on Friday.

The last game of the week was played at Pattaya Country Club. We were able to tee off immediately but that was of little benefit as we were held up all day by two of the slowest two balls in existence, they seemed to be competing with each other to see who could play the slowest. Shortly after tee off we got hit with a quick shower, fortunately it didn’t last long, it came back again on the back nine and was over just as quickly as it came.
Scoring was modest at best with only Alan Sullivan putting in a decent shift to take first place with thirty-five points and go back to back for the week. After a layoff of two months Tony Robbins made a long awaited return to the game and took second place with thirty-one points. Hubert Stiefenhofer took third on countback from Michael Brett. Once more only three near pins were taken as listed. One final game to end the month at Pattavia on Monday.
Winner at Eastern Star, and Pattaya Country Club Alan Sullivan.
