EASTERN STAR
Tuesday’s challenge took us to Eastern Star. The course was in fine condition, offering just enough difficulty to keep everyone engaged. The weather was hot, but a refreshing breeze made play enjoyable. With only two groups out, spirits were high and competition was keen.
Despite the favorable conditions, only one player managed to break his handicap. Willem Lasonder, motivated after last week’s spoon, played a steady round to claim victory with 39 Stableford points. Tony Oakes followed as runner‑up with 35 points.
Allan Cassin struggled to find his form and received the spoon.
Near pins: Neil Harvey, Dave Smith, and Willem Lasonder.
PATTANA
Thursday’s venue was Pattana, where nine motivated players took on the challenge. We don’t visit this course often, but in the low season it earns its place on our schedule. Conditions were excellent: partly overcast skies, a pleasant breeze, and a course in top shape.
As expected, Pattana proved demanding. Only two players managed to break their handicap. Mark Bromwich was the standout performer, playing consistently to win with 38 Stableford points. Sam Jeffery followed closely in second place with 36 points.
Dave Smith couldn’t find his rhythm and received the spoon.
Near pins: Robert Charbonneau, Tony Oakes, and Ricardo Batt.
