Pleasant Valley was the venue for our monthly 2-man scramble which attracted 18 pairings. It was another highly successful day and even a short, sharp shower of rain did not spoil the day. Our scrambles are renowned for low scores and today was no different with Glen Elsworth and Paul Longstaff leading the way with a gross score of 70, 2 under par, for a net score of 62.25.
Second and 3rd places were decided by ¼ of a point with Garry Lyon and Garry Chrystal edging out 2-time winners Nigel Henson and Mike Tottenham. The 2 Garry`s returned a net score of 63.25 to Nigel and Mike`s 63.50. Fourth place went to the Irish duo of Steve Doris and Brendon Kane with 64.00 with the final podium place going to Mike Ehlert and Rune Gundarsen with 65.00.
Many thanks to all the players and the staff at Pleasant Valley. The course was in very good condition. It would be wrong for me to mention the unfortunate pairing who, between them lost 6 balls at the par 3 8th hole to card a 9! I would also like to thank my partner for the day, Michel DeLa Trez. Our playing partners were a bit taken aback with a Frenchman trying to speak English and a Scotsman, trying to speak English.
Just as a heads up, on the evening of the 17th of March, there will be a St. Patrick`s Day bash at The Snug. Although not a golf day, all are invited which is sure to be a night to remember.
