The Grand Finally to the Sports Hub Christmas Open was held at Pattavia Golf Club and it ended up tighter than many people expected.
It was a fantastic 3 days of golf with lots of drama from hole in one’s to several rounds under par. Thank you to everyone who played in it and supported a great week.
A massive thanks to Joe and all the staff for providing a great venue for us to play golf from and sponsoring this event very much appreciated.
The final round had its ups and downs with Rocky not finding this course as easy as some of the others but the greens are far from what we expect and hopefully they will get them sorted soon.
As always we played the white tees at 6600 yards but there’s plenty of run round here so I was expecting some decent scores in.
The winner of day 3 was our very own Golf Legend Steve Richardson with 38pts shooting 2 under par. He started slowy but a 4 under back 9 gave him a 1 shot victory.
2nd place went to the Big man from Australia Greg Smith with 37pts finding some form after his trip back home.
3rd place went to Colm O Donovan with 35pts winning a 3 way countback with Kevin Labar and Johnny Gray.
The final spot went to my favourite Glaswegian Ryan Joyce with 34pts having 12pts on his front 9 then blitzing the back 9 with 22pts to win another countback.
The Main event of the Christmas Open was won by Rocky Jones with a combined score of 106pts over 3 rounds to win by 3 shots and win the 7k baht 1st prize.
Congratulations mate very well deserved.
2nd place was Pat Lavin with 103pts making a final day charge from just inside the top 10 to nearly get over the line.
Great fight back mate.
3rd place went to the big hitting Irishman Colm Lawlor with 101pts which is a great result with how little golf he’s played in the last 12 months and these were his first 3 rounds since arriving.
4th place went to the number 1 moaner of the society Shaun Woodcock with 100pts beating Colm O Donovan and Jim Kurzava on a countback. Shaun turned 60 as well on Thursday and even bought his first round of shots of his life …. Unbelievable!
Chris Barker was crowned golfer of the year. Some fantastic golf played by the man with the million dollar smile
