Green Valley was the venue for PSC 135th Monthly tournament and what fine choice that was with a course presented in great condition, efficient booking in and just the right weather for golf!
With a 2 tee start and 108 players (111 signed up there were 2 late withdrawals and a ‘NO SHOW’) It was an early start for the advance party of Golf Chairman Mark West, Peter Blackburn and Nigel Cannon to prepare for the arrival of the players. Following registration it was off to the 1st and 11th tees where André Van Dyke and Gerd Riedler were waiting as starters to ensure a smooth start from the correct tees!
With no infiltrators it was just over 4 hours for most and Mark, Peter and Nigel were on hand to calculate the results.
With both Mike Allidi (3) and Max Scott (5) returning a 80 gross it went to count-back with Mike declared the winner.
‘A’ Flight from the – Blue Tees – also required a count-back with Jim Brackett (8) and Bob Newell (8) both coming in with 74 Net –it was Jim who secured the top spot.
42 points from PSC regular Barry Copestake (12) was the winner of ‘B’ Flight.
Count-back – again! In ‘C’ Flight between John Fitzgerald (18) and Sugar Ray Handford (19) both with 37 points and John was declared the winner.
Donal McGuigan (22) produced the best Stableford score of the day with 44 points to take ‘D’ Flight.
Peter Henshaw (16) was Senior winner with 33 points and PSC Lady Champion Yui Bietry (10) the top lady with 39 points.
This month’s buffet and presentation was at Lewiinski’s where Colin and his team produced an excellent spread catering for all tastes and appetites!
Presentation time and Nigel called order and welcomed all and announced the sad passing of popular PSC Member Jack Robertson and glasses were raised to ‘Absent Friends’. Nigel then introduced Golf Chairman Mark West. Mark expressed his appreciation for today’s competitors and also his team of helpers, Peter, André, Gerd, Nigel, Noi and Kit with special appreciation for the PSC office staff led by Office manager Mai. Mark thanked Colin for producing excellent food and service. He went on say he was continuing having meetings with all local golf courses to secure competitive rates for PSC members.
Nigel then announced the winners and Mark presented the prizes this was followed by the lucky draw and the 50/50 draw which included 5 additional vouchers. Andy Makara was the 50/50 winner on a day when he was a late entry and placed 2nd in ‘D’ Flight.
