The Tropical Golf 27/01

Tuesday The 27th January 2015: Mountain Shadow ( Stableford) Last Tuesday of the Month is the MBMG Group Golfer of the Month and we usually get a good turn out as indeed we did on this week with a full list and sadly a few waiting. This seems to be the normal these days but I can see a slow reduction in numbers in the coming weeks.

A nice drive down there although the route 7 is undergoing some changes but the traffic seems to keep moving. A quick book in a we were soon on the first tee. The day looked good, not high wind, just a good blow, and no rain in sight, so off we went.

Playing off the blues I expected a day of low scoring, and that is generally what happened, however there must be something in the water as two of the players in my fourball were playing out of their skin. It might have been due to the good fairways, but probably due to the slower than normal greens as the ball kept slipping into the hole. Of course mine did not but it was a pleasure to watch!!. I can’t believe I said that, and I am sober.

So with the round over and the scores coming in, I thought with the great scores the two in my fourball had put in they were sure to win, but was I in for a surprise.

Back at Bert’s it was soon times for the results and there were two big surprises. Let me start with the B Flight, 21 up, and here the scores were very average to say the least. Winner with 33 points was Torsten Bischoff ahead of Paolo De Grandis in second with 32 points. In third was Daryl Evans with 31 points ahead of Kurt Ebentheuer in fourth with 30 points on countback from Mike O’Brien.
So to the A Flight, 0 to 20, and here the first surprise, I played with Mashi and Richard Kubicki, and after Richards 4 birdies I just could not see either beaten, but they were and quite easily. So the winner was Brian Parish with 44 points, a great round, with Richard Kubicki second with 40 points. Then in third we had Mashi Kaneta with a good round of 38 points ahead of Dick Warberg in fourth with 35 points.

So to the result of the MBMG Group Golfer of the month and the second surprise. And, if the split had been at 0 to 18, the winner would have been Dick Warberg, but it was not and with his win in the B Flight, Torsten Bischof won his first MBMG Group Golfer of the Month. Well done Torsten. Luck plays a big part in this game. T.T.F.N.
