Tropical Golf 28/12

Bangpra (Stableford)

This was a funny day for us to be playing Golf, but it seems that at this time of the year any day is fine as New Year comes up. Mind on this day we were playing late at Bangpra so I suppose that on a Monday a late tee time was fine.
I knew we were in for a funny day as when we approached the turn into the Golf Course the road was covered with monkeys running across it and causing general mayhem. I have not seen this in all the years I have been going to this Course, and after a quick change I was very surprise to be told we were directed to the 10th tee for our start. Never have I actually teed off at the 10th in all the years we have been playing here.
We had a large turnout for the day and even off the 10th tee we were late so we knew this was going to be a long day. We teed off on the 10th and then all returned to a normal day in High Season as we had to wait for every shot. Meanwhile the Course was packed with troops of monkeys who were everywhere. As said I rather suspected we would find this when we arrived. With so many young around the big males seemed a bit tired out and were no problem.
The first nine was very slow, but after nine the players in front disappeared and we were able to get a move on. The Course itself was in good condition considering the amount of golf being played of late and the greens were very good with the ball rolling along quite nicely. Well we finally got around and really appreciated a nice shower.
After waiting for all the players coming in it was dark as we got back into Pattaya and as late as we have ever been as we got into the presentation.
This was a special day as not only was it MBMG Group Golfer of the Month but also MBMG Group Golfer of the Year and both were still in the balance and depended on the days results.
In the A Flight, 0 to 19, the winner was Mashi Kaneta with 37 points ahead of Landis Brooks in second with 35 points. In third was Brian Parish with 34 points and in fourth was Richard Kubicki with 33 points.
In the B Flight the winner was Dick Warberg with 36 points ahead of Nigel Perry in second with 35 points. We then had a countback on 30 points that saw Tom Cotton in third and Tom McDowell in fourth.
Then time for the big ones. The MBMG Golfer of the month, a countback ruled out Nigel Perry so The MBMG Group Golfer of the Month was Mashi Kaneta with his last gasp win on the day, Well done Mashi.,
So to the big one, and with a consistent performance throughout the year The MBMG Group Golfer of the Year was Brian Parish by a clear margin. Well done indeed and well deserved.
Thank you MBMG for once again Sponsoring the event and we had a drink to them. TTFN
