Tropical Bert’s 28/10
Tuesday The 28th October 2014: Mountain Shadow ( Stableford)
Well this is the last Tuesday we shall play under the Banner of PSC Golf From Tropical Bert’s, from next week it will be PSC Golf from Tropical Golf from BJ Lodge. Much water has flowed under the bridge since we originally formed as The 60’s Bar in Soi 0, only to become Tropical Bert’s when Bert took over the Bar. We then moved to our present location, sadly to close soon. Bert has relocated to Tropicals in Soi Watboonsampan and we wish him and Pu the best of luck and thank him for the support over many years. So next week off to BJ Holiday Lodge in Soi 3 Beach road.
On this day it was a relatively normal morning as we had a good turnout, so it was soon into cars and a quick run to Mountain Shadow saw us soon on the first tee. With the rain of late it was carts on the path only, but as thAdd Mediae round progressed we started going grass wise as we went into the back nine, but were carefull where we went.
The Course was still wet but by careful placement and cleaning the ball we made good progress. As said the fairways were still wet and the rough wet, but probably the main drawback was the slowness of the greens. However if truth be know when these greens are dry they can be really fast, so it is an ill wind etc.
Still with no one in front of us we made really good time and with the fine drying weather the round only got better.Soon finished it was nice to see the new showers in the rest room. A great improvement and this Course is now really worth a visit. Tough but fair. Soon it was time to get back to Bert’s and as someone asked me the way we came back, I could only remember the slip into 40 winks. Mashi drives and I sleep. Great innit.
Back at Bert’s it was soon time for the results, not forgetting this would be the last MBMG Group Golfer of the Month in this establishment but will be carried onto the new Location. In the A Flight, 0 to 17, The winner was John Pierrel with 39 points on countback over Brian Gabe in second. In third was Mark West with 36 points. In the B Flight the winner was Tom Herrington with a fine 41 points over Daryl Evans in second with 40 points. In third was Graham Buckingham with 37 points ahead of Don Carmody.
The fine score of 41 points was enough to carry Tom Herrington to his first win as MBMG Group Golfer of the Month. Well done Tom. T.T.F.N.
