Tropical Bert’s 15/07
15 July 2014 : Green Valley ( Stableford ) This Course always has a good turnout. and this week was no exception. Of late we have been experiencing a very quiet period, but it was nice to see numbers back to normal. So as we had a later tee time we left Bert’s a little later than normal.
Arriving there a bit early we had time for a cup of tee, but also on the way there, the sky looked like rain was due, so I remembered that I had no water cover for the bag and bought one from the shop at a reasonable price. Then out to the first tee.
It was looking decidedly as rain was on the way, but still we were away early. Nice cool weather for a while, then as we approached the back nine it rained and we stopped for a break. Soon away we stopped again but the group behind were braver than us and played through.Still we only lost about 45 minutes to the rain and the new cover came in handy.
Through all this the Course played quite well, even if the greens were a bit slow due to the rain. We got changed, thankful for the hot showers and had a quick bite to eat before starting on the journey back.
Back at Bert’s it was soon time for the results with a decidedly high scoring group of winners. The winner was Brian Parish with 41 points, a good round on a wet day. In second we had Max Scott with 40 points and in third was the other Aussie single handicapper,Bob Watson, with 39 points. We then had a countback on 36 points that saw Ted Morris in fourth and Dave Nicholson just losing out. T.T.F.N.
