The Growling Swan 21/09
Martin Todd Makes A Statement!
Twenty one players arrived at The Growling Swan with an appointment to take the trip up Highway 331 and take on the very popular Greenwood GC.
Cannot report what took place on the buses, as I did not make the trip myself. But I am sure it was the usual banter of what players were anticipating from this outing. Judging by the way that Brad Todd was sent off by Russell Calcutt I would hazard a guess he would have slept the entire trip.
We played A & B nines, off the White tees and at 6,200 yards (approx.), with no run it made it a tough day for all. Of course, as usual the tricky par 5’s sorted many out. Course was in good condition and as always the greens were playing on the tricky side.
The weather was warm with no rain is sight but, as the day got longer the lack of breeze made it somewhat uncomfortable. On the return to The Swan we greeted many red faces and that had nothing to do with scores, more to do with lack of sunblock.
Martin was on on the day with his trip to Japan not affecting his golf, second was Jim Groves taking that position (on count back) from Steve Jones who looked to have his putter working.
1st Martin Todd (11) 38 pts
2nd Jim Groves (12) 37 pts On a count back.
3rd Steve Jones (21) 37 pts
4th John Anderson (27) 32 pts
5th Chris Stewart (2) 31 pts On a count back from 2 other golfers.

Back at the Growling Swan, we welcomed back The Japanese Touring Party; Chris Stewart, Martin Tood, Stuart Rifkin, Allan Sanders, Allan Nolan & Steve Jones. We also welcomed Fez Duriban and John Lewis and a welcome back to Glen Henricksen all the way back from Barrow Island Aust.
We said goodbye, (be it only on a temporary basis) to Ebrahim Al-ansari, Geri Crilly, Gentleman Jim Groves and Mark The Viper Stapleton. All are heading to their respective home countries for a short break. We wish you all well and hope you all travel safetly!
A hush went over the crowd when word got out that Brad Todd was close to losing his manhood thanks to a miss hit from playing partner John Lewis. Three Thai women were seen leaving at The Swan offerings to Budha in thanks!
Russell Calcutt paraded charity dog ‘Deefa’ who gratefully received significant donations from the happy clan and they are thanked for their continued contributions. All ‘Deefa’ donations go to the PSC to be directed to projects to assist the needy children of Pattaya.
‘For some serious golf with a dash of fun, the Growling Swan welcomes golfers of all persuasions. We generally play on Mondays and Thursdays at any one of the fine courses around Pattaya. Please contact Peter Grey for bookings or any information on 0861 503086.
