CRYSTAL BAY GC – STABLEFORD
Adrian belts The Schmidt out of the Field.
As The Story Goes.
Well it had started raining early in the morning, golfers started to arrive at the bar not knowing whether we would play or not. Andrew made a call and advised that he was told “There is no rain here”. I think that the informant was stating that it was not raining in her room!
So with only 1 non show 27 of us boarded the buses and headed up the road to Crystal Bay, we had rain all the way, it did stop as soon as we entered the grounds.
Arriving at the course we were informed that due to all the rain that had fallen there were to be no carts on the fairways! I played in the 3rd group and on the first tee we were all driving on the fairways (I mean for those lucky enough to get the ball on to the fairway).
It was overcast all day with a cool breeze which made for a very pleasant day for golf. The course was in good nick as per usual, with the greens playing slow but true. Unfortunately the scores do not reflect this as some of us did not give the scorers any trouble at all.
Adrian Schmidt took the honors in A Grade by one shot from Jim Groves, and on his return Dave Fletcher collected the chockies with a 3 point win over Alex Field.
We played from the white tees playing C & A.
