GREEN VALLEY GANG

Green Valley was the venue for today’s comp and what a great golf course it was for the event. She is back again to being in perfect condition and the weather was ideal for a fine round of golf. A full sheet saw Capt. Phil juggle our 8 groups around and a helpful starter made sure we all got off in time.

Jimmy Dundon is winding down his trip so today was his last round here for a couple of months. Jimmy has had a good run and for a guy that spends so much time on board a ship, his game comes together pretty fast once he hits dry land. His 38 tied for third with Peter Le Noury and Alan Rothwell to send him off with a smile. See you next time matey!

What can we say about Dave Ferris? This guy took some good advice over the last few weeks from David Rose and sees his game turn around big time! S^nd8a66er! Seriously, it is great to see results like this and now Dave seems to be on the path of enlightenment so watch and see how his handicap will drop. Score of the day saw our old mate Gary Emmett have his best round this year with a massive 42 pointer to slaughter the field for a well deserved win at last!

Wednesday 25th – Pattana B & C – Stableford – White Tees
T -1st – Alan Rothwell (7) 40 points
T -1st – Matt Herman (9) 40 points
3rd – Barry Murnin (20) 39 points
4th – Terry Dyer (15) 38 points

These guys are good! OK, an obvious steal from the PGA commercials but ya gotta be impressed with our lads out here today. We do not get out to Pattana as much as we probably should. This is a great track, it was in very good condition, and the facilities are nothing short of superb. My point is, that for a course we don’t know that well, the boys turned in some great scores right down the podium.

Our TGC Room 3 resident Terry Dyer had a great round and could have won the comp on any other day with a smooth 38 on the card. Unfortunately there were 3 other guys who had a different idea but Terry ended up with a little envelope from Capt. Phil for 4th place at least. Big Barry Murnin shot lights out as well but his 39 could only get him to a third place spot…still one heck of a round buddy!

The highest step was reserved for Matt Herman and regular Alan Rothwell who tied at the forty point mark and since we only do a countback on our Medal comp, they share first place at Pattana today. Nice going guys!

PETER,MIKE & ALLAN

Friday 27th – Silky Oaks – Stableford – White Tees
1st – Mike Omiya (8) 39 points
T -2nd – Alan Rothwell (7) 37 points
T -2nd – Brian Carr (26) 37 points
T -2nd – Peter Thomas (18) 37 points

Silky Oaks is proving to be not only the most improved golf course of 2015, but now is certainly one of the most popular as well. The course was in great condition and for a high season price of 1,750 baht (all in) it is one of the best values also. I personally love a course with elevation changes and this place has that in abundance.

We had no issues here with the weather, but the fact that weather is even being discussed on the 27th of November is ridiculous. I will now confirm to the gathered masses that the rainy season is now over. There, I’ve said it! No more rain for the next 3 months, I promise.

The more I play this course the more I like it. Remember, it is an all new layout with 18 separate fairways and greens, and they are building another 18 holes to complement this beautiful track. If you visit Pattaya this high season, you really should put this on your must-play list. Klaus, you have got yourself a convert!

The scores above tell the tale, and a three way tie was at the 37 point mark whilst visiting pal Mike Omiya had the best score with a 39 on the card. Nice shootin’ Mikey!

Thanks guys for playing with us this week. We had a bunch of new blokes join us who had a great time, and we were glad to have you here.
