Siam Country Resort we 17/01
Tricky Greens, The Order of the Days
Tuesday was a visit to Pattavia Chonburi, with clear skies and a light breeze blowing, great conditions for golf. The course was co-operating also, as the renovations come to the fore, so long as you don’t stray too far from the fairway. Many of the tees were well forward, however some tricky pin positions compensated for the lack of length on some of the holes. Jeff Wylie (7) had a good day with the putter, to score 41 points, ahead of Willem Lasonder (21) who signed for 35 points, Gerd Riedler (9) getting the final podium spot a further point behind. NTPs were spread around between Willem, Bob, Jeff & Jonathan, with an apology to Steve.
Thursday saw us turn off Hwy 331 a little earlier, on our way to Pattana, with the B & C loops our allotted test. The course was in good condition throughout, however while Tuesday’s pin placements were tricky, this day’s were downright treacherous, with the wind blowing a little harder, the greens a bit quicker, and the gradients a little steeper. Gerd Riedler (9) played solid golf to lead the field with 33 points, ahead of 3 players all on 30. Neil Harvey (17) got 2nd spot ahead of Willem Lasonder (21) & Jeff (7) after the countback went 15, 14 & 13 respectively on the back 9. Neil having hit a pearler into the last hole with his new hybrid, for a nice par & 3 points. NTPs went to Steve, Jim & Bob.
