Emerald Golf course
Stableford, white tees
Good group of guys today, enjoying the Emerald course golfing and a few bonding hours after golf on the beer in the local bars.
The golf course is playing well, fairways on the mend and the greens were building a bit of pace again after all the recent bad weather.
Today we welcomed a few players that haven’t been around for a while, Gerry from Australia brought along Tash and Greg, both first timers and they told me they had a great day. Jason from England was back again after a year working at home. For someone that doesn’t play at home, he played really well and smacking that driver about 270 yards on average, some much longer. Well played mate.
Overall winner today was Rocky Jenks, well played mate. Rocky is starting to get his game back after a few years off and a few months of getting his confidence back. 83 Gross today off 24 handicap, netting him 48 points. A truly good score.
Next game is at Green Valley. All welcome.

Green Valley golf course
I love Green Valley. Playing on the Kings Birthday holiday, as expected, the course was very busy, but moved well all day.
Course is in great condition, fairways are lush and the greens were fast. I personally struggled with the greens today, as did most of the players. Not having playing much lately, generally the first thing you lose your touch with is your short game. In my group, I’ve never seen so many duffed chips or three putts in a round before, many of those were mine haha.
Good group of guys playing today. Welcoming a couple of first time starters, John from Manchester and Paul from Philadelphia, both really nice guys, thanks for the company today.
I enjoyed walking with Paul today, a 71 year old retired doctor and psychiatrist, not for analysing my warped mind but chatting with Paul about his world travels, even golfing experiences were he has caddied for Lee Trevino, Arnold Palmer and known many of the top line golfers over the years. A truly nice man and we would welcome Paul back any day. Cheers.
Poor John today threw his back out after 14 hiles today and could barely walk. Look after yourself and I hope to see you out here again soon.
I can’t really say who the winner was today. I think Dave Gattenholf would have taken the prize today. Dave would probably be Pattaya’s worst chipper, followed closely by me, but he can play quite well.
Next week first game out is at Emerald, come along and join the fun. See the website or facebook page for further details.
